There are many different species of chickens and consequently, there are many different colors, shapes and sizes of chickens, but they all have the same basic body structure that make them chickens.
Chicken Basic Appearances
Chickens are easily identified by the comb on the top of their heads and a wattle underneath their beaks. Roosters, on the other hand, usually have larger combs and wattles. All chickens, regardless of the species type, has two legs and two wings. They are covered with feathers and have a tail sticking up at an angle. Sometimes the feathers on the tail will drop all the way to the ground!

Like many other animals such as dogs and cats, chickens come in a variety of colors. Some chickens are mostly neutral in their colors, while others have very unique colors. Beside the normal colors of white, black, and brown, chickens can also be gold, silver, red, green, and blue! Very exotic!

Their legs are covered with scales. Some breeds have puffy feathers growing from beneath them, covering their legs. They have nice, sharp claws that help them walk and grip things. Chickens are better at walking than flying but can flutter up to a perch.
